Confirmation

Confirmation

For a person baptized at an early age, Confirmation provides an opportunity to make a “mature public affirmation of faith and the commitment to the responsibilities of baptism,” with the laying on of hands by a bishop (BCP 412). As an aid to this important area of spiritual formation, Adult Confirmation classes are offered twice a year. Adult Confirmation classes cover things that are particular to the Episcopal tradition, basic Christian theology and developing a sense of personal identity and mission as a mature Christian. The class is appropriate for those who were Confirmed in another apostolic tradition, but have recently chosen to worship in the Episcopal tradition; those who feel compelled to reaffirm the commitment they made at some earlier time in their life; those who are new to the Episcopal tradition and simply want to understand more about it. The Adult Confirmation class lasts approximately four months. It gathers following the 9:00 AM service and meets for about 45 minutes. If you would like to participate in the classes or would like further information, please contact the church office.
